How do you send a Stop loss order? (STP and S-STP)

You would fill the trigger price into the normal price field, STP or S-STP in the TIF, and if you desire a limit price it would go to the right of the TIF.

How do you set up a default account in your level II?

From the main toolbar go to View>Settings and choose Destinations. If you place your account in the top row it will default to that account for all equity destinations.

How do I see quote size in hundreds on the level II?

From the main toolbar choose view>settings then go to Level II OE on the left. Open Misc… from the bottom right, and check the box “Display sizes in hundreds.”

Reasons why I would not see quotes in the level II?

The most obvious reason for this is that quote permissions have not yet been added to a new account. However if a particular book is missing make sure it is check off in the settings on the level II.

How do I display my open orders in the Level II?

You can display them in the open orders bar by clicking view>open orders bar. You can display them in the level II quotes as well. To do this, go to the level II select View>settings then go to the Level II tab. You can then check the box to “Include open orders in Level II display.” You will then have additional display options underneath it.

Why do I see the size with an asterisk (*) in my level II?

When a size is marked with an * this is an indication of it being an odd or mixed lot size while displaying sized in hundreds. To remove these you can choose to round them. From the main toolbar choose view>settings then go to Level II OE on the left. Open Misc… from the bottom right, and check the box “Round mixed lots down to the nearest hundred.

How do you link windows in Sterling?

On the first window you wish to link go to Actions>Link Windows> Start and then click each of the windows you wish it to be linked with. Then go to Actions>Link Windows>Stop.

How do you load a layout on startup?

On the main toolbar select View>Settings and in the top left you will find the settings for, “When starting the application.” Here selected the option to load layout and then press the button and choose the layout you wish to load.

How do you make a custom Hotkey?

On the main toolbar select View>Settings and go to the section on the left labeled hotkeys. Then in the top right choose add…. From the popup window you will be able to select all the settings for the hotkey you wish to use.

How do I change the number of decimal places in quotes?

On the main toolbar select View>Settings then select quotes. Under display you will be able to choose the number of decimal places.

How do I get premarket quotes?

On the main toolbar select View>Settings then select quotes. Then check the box for display/use pre- and post-market trades. You will then need to save your layout, log out, and log back in.

How do I setup a default destination?

On the main toolbar select View>Settings then select Listing Exchanges on the left side. You will then be able to set the default destination based on the listing exchange of the symbol or as a default for all equities in the top row.

How do you get options in T&S?

On the main toolbar select View>Settings then select miscellaneous on the bottom of the left hand side. Then check the box on the right side for “Use options symbol for linked Time and Sales windows when available. Set you T&S in the same link group as your options OE and set the symbol in the options OE.

How do I get to a particular time in T&S?

Checking the box for the time selection in the T&S window may not always bring you to the times you wish. You are able to navigate up and down through time using the page up and page down keys on your keyboard.

What would cause an unknown trader rejection on logging in?

The trader name may be typed incorrectly, right click the Sterling icon and choose properties. Make sure that the trader name is correct in the target line and it does not have additional spaces added before or after it.

How can I find out what my trader name is without logging out?

Your trader name can be found in the title bar of the main window.

How do you change from a demo account to a live account without uninstalling the platform?

Right click the Sterling icon and choose properties. Adjust the trader name in the target line.

Why can’t I send orders for more than 10,000 shares? Soft Share rejection?

This is not a rejection it is simply a notification that you can click “Yes” on to send the order. This notification can be turned off by going to the main toolbar under View>Settings and choosing miscellaneous on the right hand side. You will find the soft share limit in the bottom right corner of that window.

How do I send after hours orders?

Change the TIF to EXT to the right of the Price on the level II.

Why don’t I get local reject messages?

From the main toolbar go to view>settings and choose notifications on the left. Make sure that under “When an order is rejected” that “Display a notification message” is checked.

Can I see my Buying Power on Sterling?

From the main toolbar go to Windows>Buying Power and you will see what is listed in the account.

Why won’t my MSFT orders fill on Demo?

MSFT is a test symbol and it will never fill in demo. We have several different demo test symbols that are listed in the demo test guide. Click the DEMO TEST GUIDE tab in the Symbology page.

Where is my layout?

Layouts are stored by default in the C:\Program Files\STI\SterlingTraderPro\Layouts folder on 32 bit machines and in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Sti\SterlingTraderPro\Layouts folder on 64 bit machines.

If I move my layout to a new computer, does it bring my hotkeys?

No, you will need to create a backup to bring your settings and hotkeys with you. To do this create folder called Sterling Backup or something recognizable. Then go to the main toolbar and choose Actions create backup. Using the popup window navigate to the backup folder and select ok. This will store the backup data in that folder then you can bring it to the new computer and then you will be able to restore the backup by choosing restore backup from the actions menu on the new PC. Again navigate to the backup folder and click ok.

How do I backup my layout and all my settings?

Will upgrading cause me to lose my layout or settings?

No, upgrading will not cause a loss of the layout or the settings. However rolling back to earlier Sterling versions can cause you to lose your layout and your settings.
